ROCKLAND, MAINE (WBZ-AM) -- It was supposed to be a quiet day at the beach in Maine, but it turned into a strange nightmare, as a woman is bitten by an otter while collecting sea shells.
While collecting shells on a beach with some kids in Rockland, Maine on Wednesday, Laurie Nevins of South Carolina was taking pictures of a river otter that came out of the water, and started running around. Suddenly the otter bit her.

The Maine Marine Patrol tracked down the otter, and shot it...then sent it to a lab to be tested for rabies. Nevins says the bite was painful, but she's okay.
