Police Shoot And Kill 18-Year-Old Accused Of Murdering Georgia Cop

Police in Georgia have shot and killed the 18-year-old suspected of gunning down Gwinnett County police officer Antwan Toney last week. Authorities had been searching for Tafahree Maynard for two days when they received a tip that he was in Snellville, which is about 30 miles northeast of Atlanta.

Dozens of police descended on the neighborhood looking for Maynard, who was considered armed and dangerous. They set up a perimeter and began a house-to-house search of the area. A team of officers found him hiding in a shed and ordered him to come outside. When he refused to listen to their commands, one officer fired a Taser at Maynard. When another officer noticed Maynard was holding a lawnmower blade behind his back, he opened fire, striking Maynard, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities had been frantically searching for Maynard after they took 19-year-old Isaiah Pretlow into custody over the weekend in connection with the shooting death. They said that he was with Maynard in a vehicle, which contained illegal drugs and guns, when Maynard opened fire as Toney approached their car.
