BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- The Patriots sit atop the AFC East entering their bye week, but their home-road splits are distinct.

New England's a perfect 5-0 at home with an average margin of victory of 14 points, but the club's 2-3 on the road, with double-digit losses in Jacksonville, Detroit, and Tennessee--three teams that are a combined 11-16. Pats haven't led in any of those defeats.

Tom Brady joined Westwood One for his weekly interview last night, and touched on the struggles outside of Foxborough and why those inferior squads have been so tough.

"They played better on the nights that we played 'em," Brady said. "We just gotta figure out how to play better. On the road, that's a lot of mental toughness, and that's really a lot of great execution early in the game. We're still trying to figure out what our identity is--I know we'll be searching for that as long as the season goes, because it always changes, that's part of football season. We really gotta work hard this week to figure out the things that we need to do that are going to help us out the most going forward. No one really has margin of error at this time of the year."

Another road test on the way in 12 days against the Jets, then stops next month in Miami and Pittsburgh.
