New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu has ordered flags to be raised to half staff in honor of NH Police Staff Sgt. Jesse Sherrill who died as a result of injuries in a crash on I-95 Thursday morning. Officer Sherrill was reportedly working a mobile construction detail north of Exit 3 when a tractor-trailer collided with the officer's cruiser after midnight on Thursday.
Officer Sherrill was taken to nearby Portsmouth Regional Hospital where we has pronounced dead. The tractor-trailer driver was also brought to the same hosptial where they were treated for injuries and released.
Staff Sgt. Sherrill began his service with the Hooksett Police Department in 2001 and joined the New Hampshire State Police the following year in 2002. Sherrill had been in law enforcement for 20 years.
