Three people were killed in a shooting at a Department of Motor Vehicles office near Louisville, Kentucky, on Friday (February 21). The incident occurred around noon at the Driver Licensing Regional Office on Dixie Highway, just north of Interstate 265. According to the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD), one man died at the scene, while two women succumbed to their injuries after being taken to the University of Louisville Hospital.
The LMPD has stated that there are currently no known suspects, and the investigation is ongoing. Maj. Donald Boeckman of the LMPD mentioned that the suspect or suspects fled the scene in a vehicle, and authorities are reviewing surveillance footage for more information.
Boeckman expressed surprise that more people were not injured, calling the event a tragedy.
Officials said that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The LMPD's Homicide Unit is leading the investigation, and they have urged anyone with information to contact their anonymous Crime Tip Line at 574-LMPD or submit an anonymous tip online.
