Five-star USC Trojans basketball prospect Alijah Arenas, 18, the son of NBA legend Gilbert Arenas, has reportedly been placed into an induced coma after being involved in a serious car crash Thursday (April 24) morning, ESPN's Shams Charania reports.

"Five-star prospect and USC commit Alijah Arenas was involved in a serious car crash early Thursday morning, hospitalized and placed into an induced coma, sources tell ESPN. Arenas, 18, is the son of former NBA star Gilbert Arenas," Charania wrote on his X account.

Arenas who played in the McDonald's All-American game earlier this month and announced his commitment to USC in January, was reportedly rushed to a Los Angeles hospital in "serious condition" after crashing his Tesla Cybertruck, which was described as being "completely mangled on the side of the road," and "ablaze" when emergency responders reported to the scene at around 4:55 a.m. local time, according to TMZ Sports.

Arenas ranks as the No. 1 shooting guard, No. 2 player from the state of California and the No. 7 overall prospect for the 2025 national recruiting cycle, according to the 247Sports Composite, which tabulates rankings from the industry's top recruiting websites.
